Rooted in Legacy, Built for What’s Next: The Story Behind Sorren

At Sorren, we didn’t set out to create just another accounting firm. We brought together 13 trusted, community-rooted firms from across the country, united by a shared vision for the future. The result is Sorren: a national firm built on shared values, regional strength, and an unwavering commitment to client success.

This is Sorren’s story—where we come from and why that matters.

From Local Leaders to a National Team

The firms that now make up Sorren were more than service providers. They were community anchors, trusted advisors, and long-term partners to businesses, nonprofits, and individuals navigating change. Some, like Pisenti & Brinker or Deagle Ames, have served their communities for over 60 years. Others brought modern innovation, like Acuity’s cloud-based model for supporting high-growth entrepreneurs.

Across every location, one thing remained consistent: the relationship came first. These firms thrived not just because of what they did, but because of how they did it.

Legacies That Shaped Sorren

Each of our legacy firms brought its own story, culture, and area of excellence:

  • SKR+CO in Colorado, founded in 1995 by former Deloitte professionals, became the largest locally owned firm in Southern Colorado before expanding to Denver with a people-first approach and technical depth.
  • SBF in Florida grew from a 2016 merger of family-founded firms into a regional powerhouse with strong community ties, low attrition, and a reputation for relationship-driven service.
  • Roeser Accountancy in Fresno delivered forward-thinking financial advice with a local touch, combining modern tech with old-school care.
  • Pisenti & Brinker LLP, with offices in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, was known for decades of civic leadership, volunteerism, and long-term relationships throughout California’s North Bay.
  • KDP, originating from Deloitte’s Medford office in 1976, evolved through strategic mergers to become a respected name across Oregon and Idaho, recognized as a Top Workplace and Top 300 U.S. firm.
  • Harris, headquartered in Meridian, Idaho, grew statewide through partnerships with like-minded firms, delivering personal service with a broad footprint and helping shape Sorren’s foundation.
  • Chigbrow Ryan Murata brought decades of trusted advisory to Idaho, with a loyal client base and culture of clarity, care, and technical strength.
  • Acuity offered a modern spin on accounting, delivering cloud-based solutions.
  • Aycock & Company in Houston offered white-glove service to high-net-worth individuals and businesses, reflecting a belief in quality over volume and strategy over transaction.
  • JRJBF in Chicago led with inclusivity and cultural competence, serving a diverse client base with a multilingual team and a vision grounded in equity and innovation.
  • KMA, along with BrookWeiner and SSG, formed Sorren’s stronghold in the Midwest. Known for technical excellence and small business support, these firms combined the depth of big-firm experience with the care of boutique service.

A Shared Culture: People First, Always

Although their geographies and specialties varied, Sorren’s legacy firms shared a common culture: one that prioritized people above all else.

In Boise and Bend, teams won recognition not just for service quality but also for workplace excellence. Meanwhile, professionals in Santa Rosa and Petaluma served on boards, earned regional honors, and gave back through year-round volunteering. Florida’s deep-rooted SBF culture is reflected in its low employee turnover and long-time client relationships—hallmarks of loyalty, trust, and care.

Each location added something unique—Chicago’s grit, Houston’s strategy, Buhl’s steadiness, Colorado Springs’ innovation, St. Petersburg’s community spirit, and Boise’s growth.

Together, these cultures didn’t just merge—they multiplied.

More Than a Merger—A Movement

What makes Sorren unique isn’t just that we’ve come together. It’s how we’ve done it.

Rather than wipe the slate clean, we chose to build on what was already working. We preserved the leadership, values, and client relationships that defined our legacy firms. Sorren was built to expand on what worked, not replace it—preserving the strengths that made each firm exceptional.

We’ve kept the professionals our clients already know and trust. We’ve expanded our expertise and reach while staying rooted in the relationships that matter most.

Where We’re Headed

Sorren is now one of the Top 50 accounting firms in the nation. But our story isn’t about scale. It’s about impact. We help clients move ahead with clarity—whether managing generational wealth, entering new markets, facing audits, or launching bold ventures.

And we’re just getting started.

From our national headquarters in Meridian, Idaho, to our growing presence in cities like Denver, Chicago, Houston, and beyond, we’re building a firm designed for what’s next. One that supports today’s needs while anticipating tomorrow’s opportunities.

A Legacy We Honor. A Future We Shape.

Every founding firm brought something special to Sorren: deep client trust, community leadership, technical expertise, and a belief in doing business the right way. That’s the legacy we carry forward.

Now, as one firm, we’re united by purpose, powered by people, and committed to progress.

We are Sorren.
Let’s see what’s possible.
