AJ Olson is a Partner at Sorren, Inc., based in The Dalles, Oregon, where he focuses on tax planning and advisory services for agricultural clients. With deep experience serving wheat and cattle farmers as well as orchardists, AJ works closely with closely held businesses, typically under $5 million in revenue, to help them navigate tax complexity, control costs, and planning for the future.
Before joining Sorren, AJ spent four years as a Partner at legacy firm RTO & Company. Throughout his career, he has been committed to continuous improvement across all facets of his work, from strengthening client relationships to enhancing quality, efficiency, and technical understanding. He is particularly recognized for leading pass-through entity (PTE-E) projects, advising clients on whether to opt in, and helping team members understand the related processes and compliance requirements. AJ takes pride in being a steady, trusted resource for clients during times of uncertainty. Whether helping a new business owner structure an entity or guiding agricultural clients through rising costs and long-term planning challenges, he emphasizes clear communication and thoughtful tax strategies designed to save money and support informed decision-making.
Originally from Hood River, Oregon, AJ remains connected to his community and previously served as Treasurer of Kiwanis of The Dalles. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, staying active at the gym, and following a wide range of sports teams, including the Denver Broncos, Oregon Ducks football, Colorado Avalanche, and Denver Nuggets. A former basketball player, AJ, still hopes to dunk a basketball again one day. He’s also an avid chess enthusiast who enjoys studying the game. His travels have taken him as far as Vietnam, adding to his appreciation for learning and exploration.
