Grant Westerfield, CPA

Senior Manager, Sorren, Inc.

Grant Westerfield is a Senior Tax Manager at Sorren, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he provides tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for family-owned and closely held businesses and their owners. He works primarily with operating companies and real estate entities, including S corporations, developers, investors, and multi-state businesses with revenues typically ranging from $1 million to $50 million. Grant partners closely with clients to help them navigate complex tax matters, structure growth opportunities, and make informed decisions that support long-term success.

With deep technical tax expertise, Grant is known for his proactive approach to planning and his ability to translate complex tax rules into practical strategies. He advises clients on entity structuring, multi-state considerations, real estate transactions, and succession planning, and he places a strong emphasis on early, ongoing communication to uncover planning opportunities before decisions are finalized. One example includes helping a real estate client structure a subdivision development using multiple entities to capture appreciation at capital gain rates rather than ordinary income, resulting in more than $3 million in tax savings. In addition to his client work, Grant plays an active leadership role during tax season as an internship coordinator, helping mentor and support the next generation of tax professionals.

Grant enjoys building long-term relationships with his clients and finds the work most rewarding when he can help business owners expand, transition, or preserve wealth for their families. A Colorado Springs native, Grant is actively involved in the community as a board member of Homeward Pikes Peak and has been recognized for his leadership through Leadership Pikes Peak and as a Colorado Springs Business Journal Rising Star. Outside of work, he values time with his family, plays pickup basketball, follows the New Orleans Saints and the NBA, and is working toward a personal goal of reaching a 1,000 Elo rating in chess.
