Ian Melton is a Senior Assurance Manager at Sorren, primarily performing audits, reviews, and compilations for for-profit entities. He provides clients with extensive technical expertise in accounting and assurance across diverse industries, including construction, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, technology, and biotechnology. Ian specializes in advising high-growth, multi-entity, and private equity-backed organizations, with a particular focus on complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), credit loss accounting (ASC 326), and accounting for business combinations (ASC 805). He also has significant experience managing SOC 1 and SOC 2 engagements, enhancing clients’ internal control frameworks and compliance.

Before joining Sorren (formerly KDP Advisors) in 2021, Ian spent three years with Ernst & Young  (EY) in San Francisco. At EY, he led financial statement audits for both public and private companies, supported IPO readiness engagements, and conducted Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 compliance audits. Ian’s technical proficiency, detail-oriented approach, and dedication to accuracy enable him to effectively guide clients through intricate accounting challenges, ensuring clarity and compliance in financial reporting.

Outside of work, Ian enjoys an active lifestyle in Boise, Idaho, spending time mountain biking, skiing, and fly fishing, and he remains a dedicated fan of the San Francisco Giants
