John Mahaffey, CPA, CVA, CGMA is a Partner in Sorren’s Assurance practice with more than 25 years of experience providing audit, accounting, tax, and advisory services to privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations of all sizes. He has developed particular expertise performing indirect cost rate (FAR) audits for state and local government contractors. John is recognized for his technical expertise, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to helping clients navigate increasingly complex assurance and compliance environments.

Throughout his career, John has led complex assurance engagements involving financial statement audits, indirect cost rate audits, and internal control evaluations. He works closely with executive leadership teams, governing boards, and finance departments to identify risks, improve reporting processes, and strengthen organizational governance. In addition to his client service responsibilities, John is passionate about mentoring professionals and helping engagement teams deliver high-quality work that reflects Sorren’s commitment to excellence.
